You know, I was going to ask whether anyone else has seen these things running around, but that's pretty much a completely moot point by now if the panic all over is anything to judge by.

So at risk of asking a dumb question, I'm going to wonder why these things are so damn violent – apparently everyone's getting mauled all over, when even failed captures don't get up and decide to bite you. Is there a reason these things are so freaked out, or...

Is this thing okay? It doesn't even have a face, and that's probably why the damn thing hasn't bitten me yet.

Yeah, they are. But starfish are okay with a lot of things, aren't they? Or, well, without a lot of things that most animals kind of think are necessary.

I suppose... [She honestly has no idea how real life starfish work okay.] But then again, pokemon can be completely different from the real-world animals they look like...

... Maybe try and lead it to water, though? That might help, since those starfish are water-types.

Yeah, that's true.

This entire thing is weird as hell, though - have you ever seen this happen before? Because I'm not sure whether I want something like this to have some sort of precedent for it.

I can't say I've ever seen anything like this before, either back home or during my year in these lands.

Considering how fast these creatures evolve in their own evolutionary lines, perhaps this is just... them learning to evolve in different ways.

That... it doesn't seem very possible, does it? Granted, I'm not a breeder, but if something like that was possible, I feel like someone would've exploited it, already.

... Then again, with all the people from different worlds arriving here, maybe someone in our position had something to do with it?

... You've listened to the sorts of things the outsiders here talk about just over the network, yes? Would it really seem so absurd that someone here pulled a stunt like this without thinking of the consequences?

Not exactly - I just want to know where they got the power to play fast and loose with the Pokémon like this, because this particular sort of stunt is a bit above pretty much everybody's pay grade.

[There's a pause as Elsa tries to think about just how indeed that could have happened, and when she speaks again, her tone is... a bit more concerned than annoyed.]

Those... "legendary" Pokemon are said to have very strange powers, do they not? Is it possible that someone, whether they be an outsider or a native to this land, has finally managed to capture one?

[It's absurd, but... she was there for the battle between Team Aqua and Team Magma. Seeing the destructive power those monsters they controlled wielded... that was power on a whole different level.]

I've also heard how the locals talk about them. You think someone caught God, that's what you're saying?

I mean, I'm not saying that's impossible. Hell, I wouldn't even put it past people? You give some people the idea and they'll go running off to do all sorts of things in the name of power or control.

I guess the other question is which legendary thing they messed with, if that's what we're going with.

Hm, I suppose capture isn't the right word. At least, not in the traditional sense. But... it certainly seems like it's possible to control a legendary, at least for a short amount of time. I've seen it happen before.

[... It didn't really end all that well, and cause WAY more chaos than a bunch of weird mashed-up pokemon running around is doing, but...]

That I have no idea how to answer. I've read up on a few of the legendary creatures of this region in particular, but it doesn't seem like the ones that once lived here could be doing something like this. But... that doesn't leave out the possibility that something from a different region has shown up here.

...There were a couple maniacs running around last year, weren't there? Around this time, too, if I'm remembering it right - I wasn't here, but I've heard about it. Just idle talk here and there, couple crazy guys nearly ended the world.

If that's what this is - again - is there just something in the water in October, or what?

Correct. They were rival criminal organizations from another region, like that Team Rocket that plagues Johto and Kanto. Each leader had control of a Legendary Pokemon - Groudon and Kyogre, I believe their names were - and decided to wreck pointless violence here. We were able to hold them and their subordinates off before things truly got bad, but that destructive power those pokemon were capable of...

[She sighs, and though he can't see it, she shakes her head.]

I've never seen anything like it before. It was terrifying.

...Sounds it. Like I said, people'll do all sorts of things once you give them the power to do it; catching god-figures like that's just asking for something stupid like that to happen.

They haven't been trouble since, though, right? I mean, I've never heard of them, anyway.

Not from what I've been able to tell. But after what they did... I'm not too sure they're really gone. I mean, if one of their plans involves summoning and trying to control a god to fight another god and they didn't care about the chaos that happens in between, I highly doubt that they'd give up after just one try.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking - that sort of thing takes either a special kind of crazy or a special kind of determined, and it's not really too promising one way or another.
